my story
I started my journey in photography in 2020, taking photography as my art elective during my senior year of high school; my older sister had taken the class prior, and she sparked my interest in photography. After a couple of months in the class, the teacher, Ted Daigle, told me he was impressed with my work and believed I had the photographer's eye and I should continue exploring the world of photography. One afternoon during my sophomore year of college, my friend invited me to the Towson vs. William and Mary vs. George Washington Gymnastics meet. before we left, I remembered how sports photography was my favorite section of photography. Hence, I decided to bring my camera and give it a shot (Pun Intended). At that meet, I reached the Gym floor and spoke to the photographers, showing them my work and interest in the field. They connected me to John Stark, who at the time was in charge of sports media at Towson University and is currently the assistant director of sports media at Syracuse University. Mr. Stark would be the first person to give me a shot as he granted me a media Credential for that sports season at Towson, which allowed me to shoot various games. most importantly, I was allowed to shoot the Towson's 2021-22 Men's Basketball Regular Season Championship Game.
Towson's 2021-22 Men's Basketball Regular Season Championship game was critical not only Towson University but for myself as well. During the on-court celebration, I congratulated some players and introduced myself. That following fall, I recognized players Nick Timberlake and Charles Thompson at a student event and reintroduced myself, but they recognized me. During our conversation, I asked Nick if they needed a team photographer? he said they did and gave me their director of Basketball operations, Caleb Kupa's number. I reached out to him, and about a week later, he asked me when I could start. During that season, I battled for my position as the head photographer, eventually winning the spot.
Later, During the 2022-23 Towson season, I Met and built a friendship with the at the time photo editor of our school newspaper, the Towerlight, Carolin Harvey. Carolin gave me a tryout for the Towerlight by shooting the Towson vs. Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse game. I passed and gained a position with the Towerlight, which officially made me a photojournalist, and it is where my work would first be published and credited. Since then, with your help, My dream becomes more of a reality daily; thank you.
Have a great day, and do what you love!
